Been refining a strategy lately that focuses on identifying potential accumulation zones for altcoins before they start their next leg up. It's pretty straightforward and relies on combining a few key indicators across different timeframes.
The core idea is to look for coins that are showing signs of bottoming out on the daily chart while simultaneously exhibiting bullish momentum building on the 4-hour chart. Here's how I break it down:
- Daily Chart Analysis: I'm primarily looking at the Relative Strength Index (RSI). I want to see the RSI dip into oversold territory (below 30) and then start to turn upwards. This indicates that the selling pressure is waning. I also pay attention to the Volume Profile. If I see significant buying volume appearing at a specific price level after a downtrend, that's a strong sign of potential accumulation.
- 4-Hour Chart Confirmation: Once I have a potential daily bottom identified, I switch to the 4-hour chart. Here, I'm using the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD). I look for the MACD line to cross above the signal line, especially when both are in negative territory and starting to move towards zero or positive. This suggests momentum is shifting to the upside. I also like to see a Volume Spike on the 4-hour chart as the price starts to break above a short-term resistance level.
- Entry Trigger: My entry is usually triggered when I see a clear bullish candle (like a hammer or engulfing candle) form on the 4-hour chart after the MACD crossover and volume confirmation, and the daily RSI has started to climb out of oversold.
I'm not looking for massive gains overnight with this. It's more about catching the early stages of a potential recovery or accumulation phase. It's worked well for me on several mid-cap altcoins that have been beaten down but still have strong fundamentals. Always remember to set a reasonable stop-loss, though, as the market can always throw curveballs!
Anyone else using a similar multi-timeframe approach for spotting accumulation? Would love to hear your thoughts or any tweaks you might make.
