Hey folks,
Been spending a lot of time lately diving into Bitcoin's on-chain metrics, and I wanted to share some observations and see what others are thinking. The price action has been pretty choppy recently, and it's always helpful to look beyond the charts to understand what's really happening under the hood.
Specifically, I've been tracking:
- Net Unrealized Profit/Loss (NUPL): This metric shows the overall profit or loss of all Bitcoin holders. We're seeing it hover in a zone that historically has been a good indicator of market sentiment. It's not screaming 'bubble' yet, but it's also not at rock-bottom fear levels.
- Exchange Net Position Change: I'm looking at how much BTC is moving into and out of exchange wallets. A consistent outflow often suggests holders are moving coins to cold storage, indicating a belief in long-term holding (accumulation). Lately, there have been some interesting fluctuations here.
- MVRV Z-Score: This is another classic for identifying market tops and bottoms. While it's elevated, it hasn't reached the extreme levels seen in previous major bull run peaks.
My current thesis is that we might be in a prolonged accumulation phase for larger holders (whales and institutions) rather than a major distribution event. The continued inflows into ETFs also point towards sustained demand, even if retail sentiment is a bit mixed.
What are your thoughts? Are you seeing anything different in the on-chain data? Any other key metrics you rely on when trying to gauge accumulation vs. distribution cycles for BTC?
Looking forward to the discussion!
